Sunny Days Learning Academy

Sunny Days Learning Academy is a licensed Boise preschool serving children ages 2–5 with a Montessori-inspired, play-based program. We redesigned their website from the ground up, reworking the site architecture, rewriting all copy for parent-driven conversions, and optimizing for local SEO and GEO. Within weeks of the March 2026 launch, the school moved from roughly 80% enrollment to a waitlist in multiple age groups.

Redesigning for the Parent, Not the Program

Sunny Days Learning Academy had been operating out of a solid Boise preschool program for years, building a reputation on small class sizes, experienced teachers, and a Montessori-inspired approach that genuinely prepares children for kindergarten. Their original website, which we had built about a year and a half earlier, covered the essentials. But it wasn't doing the job it needed to do.

The site was organized around how the school described itself rather than how a parent evaluates a preschool. The copy read like a licensing document. There was no clear path from arrival to action, and the site wasn't competing for the local search queries parents actually use when they're looking for childcare in Boise. Enrollment had plateaued at roughly 80%.

The school had everything a family could want. The website just wasn't reflecting that, and it wasn't converting the traffic it had.

    The Situation

The original Sunny Days site had been live for about 18 months when the school came back to us for a redesign. It covered the basics: licensing details, program descriptions, a contact form. But it wasn't built with a conversion goal in mind, and it showed.

The structure was built around how the school organized its own thinking, not how a parent makes a preschool decision. A family landing on the site had to work to find what they actually needed: how big are the classes, what does a typical day look like, how do I know this is the right fit for my child. The copy was accurate but dry, and there was no visual or structural momentum guiding a visitor toward scheduling a tour or making a call.

On the search side, parents looking for "preschool in Boise" or "Montessori preschool near me" weren't finding Sunny Days through organic results. The site had no local citation presence and no GEO-optimized content structured to surface in AI-generated search responses, which are increasingly how parents research childcare options.

The result was an enrollment plateau that didn't reflect the quality of the program. We went back to the beginning and rebuilt it.

    What We Built

An Architecture Built Around the Enrollment Decision

The first structural change was rethinking what the site was actually for. We rebuilt the page hierarchy around the parent's decision-making process: who is this school for, why is it the right choice, and what is the next step. Every page was assigned a clear role in that path. The homepage was redesigned to surface the most confidence-building information, class ratios, licensing, Montessori approach, outdoor space, within the first scroll, rather than burying it inside program detail pages.

Navigation was simplified, internal linking was made intentional, and every page closes with a clear action. The site doesn't let a visitor drift. It moves them forward.

Copy Written for Parents, Not Administrators

We rewrote every page of the site from scratch. The previous copy was accurate but written from the inside out: here is our program, here is our license, here are our policies. The new copy is written from the parent's perspective: what does a typical day actually look like, why does this teaching approach work, what will my child experience here, and how do I know this is the right fit.

Pages like the Typical Day section and Program overview now function as confidence-builders as much as information sources. The tone is warm, direct, and specific, because vague reassurance doesn't convert. Concrete detail does.

The Typical Day section helps parents visualize their child in the program before they ever visit.

    A Multi-Step Registration Form Designed to Self-Select

One of the more significant additions to the site was a reworked enrollment process. Rather than a basic contact form, we built a multi-step registration experience with a specific goal: propel well-matched families efficiently through the process, and surface potential fit issues early before anyone's time is wasted.

The form guides parents through key questions in a clear, low-friction sequence rather than presenting a wall of fields up front. For a small preschool operating with limited administrative capacity, this kind of self-selection matters. The school's time is better spent with families who are genuinely ready to enroll.

The multi-step registration form moves serious families forward while naturally filtering poor-fit inquiries.

SEO and GEO Optimization for Local Parent Search

Parents searching for preschools use local, intent-driven queries. We built the site to compete for those searches from the start, including properly structured metadata, schema markup, and on-page copy that targets Boise-area preschool and childcare terms. Local directory listings and citations were established to reinforce the school's local search presence.

GEO optimization, structuring content to surface well in AI-assisted search responses like those appearing in Google's AI Overviews, was built into the copy architecture rather than retrofitted after the fact. As more parents use AI tools to find and evaluate childcare, this kind of structure becomes increasingly important.

An active blog supports ongoing SEO and gives parents additional content to evaluate the program.

Key program features are surfaced clearly for parents evaluating the preschool-age program.

    Performance, Accessibility, and Security

The redesigned site meets WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards throughout: proper heading structure, color contrast, keyboard navigation, and accessible form controls. Page load performance was improved through image compression, lazy loading, caching, and asset minification. Security was hardened with firewall configuration, login lockout protection, and reCAPTCHA on all forms.

The platform stayed WordPress and Elementor Pro, the same setup the school's staff was already familiar with, so nothing about the day-to-day editing experience required retraining.

Our website turned out beautifully from the design and function. Aaron and Randy were a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend White Whale Web.

    Results

Within weeks of the March 2026 launch, the results were clear. Traffic and engagement increased measurably across the board. More significantly, the school moved from roughly 80% enrollment to a waitlist in multiple age groups, a direct shift that corresponded with the new site going live.

Ongoing SEO work continues to build on the gains from launch, and enrollment form refinements are still in progress, with early indicators showing strong parent completion rates through the multi-step flow.

    • Enrollment moved from ~80% to a waitlist in multiple age groups within weeks of launch
    • Measurable increase in traffic and on-site engagement post-launch
    • Local search visibility established where the site previously had no meaningful presence
    • WCAG 2.2 AA compliance achieved across all pages
    • Faster, more secure site on the same familiar WordPress platform

What This Means for Similar Organizations

If your preschool, childcare center, or private school is running a website that covers information but isn't converting visits into tours or calls, a conversion-focused architecture rework is usually a faster path to enrollment growth than adding more content to a structure that isn't working.

    • Copy written from the parent's perspective, not the administrator's, is one of the highest-leverage changes you can make to a small private education site
    • Local SEO and GEO optimization are increasingly important as parents use both search engines and AI tools to research childcare options
    • A multi-step enrollment form that qualifies families early reduces administrative friction on both sides of the inquiry
    • Accessibility and performance aren't optional additions for a school site: they affect both search rankings and the experience of every family who visits

If your organization serves families at a critical decision point, your website needs to build trust fast and make the next step obvious. We can help with that.
